Unlike a hub, these switches provide a dedicated bandwidth of 100 MBit/s. This allows for high-performance access to connected servers, PCs, or workgroups. The high bandwidth enables users to access data-intensive multimedia information over the network just as quickly as they would from a local hard drive. Each individual port supports data speeds of both 10 and 100 MBit/s. In full-duplex mode, the data throughput can reach up to 200 MBit/s.
