Product details

The large electronic OLED viewfinder with a 1 cm diagonal and 2.359 million pixels ensures a clear view. The eye sensor detects when the camera approaches your face and automatically switches from monitor
use to the electronic viewfinder.

The bright 3.2-inch LCD monitor with 921,000 pixels can be tilted and rotated in almost any direction. Choose the appropriate framing for unique images. Even if you're holding the camera high above your head or just above the ground, you can still capture the perfect shot. Edit files with high resolution. The COOLPIX P950 supports RAW (NRW) format shooting. So you can save uncompressed image files and export them to an image processing program of your choice.

Stereo filming in 4K/UHD 30p or Full HD video (1080p) at frame rates of up to 60p is easier than ever. The uncompressed HDMI output of the video signal allows the use of an external monitor while filming. The built-in microphone jack allows you to connect an external microphone for better sound. In manual film mode, you can adjust the most important exposure settings while filming and thus react to changing light conditions.

The integrated time-lapse function is perfect for making the sky panorama, star trails or opening plants in a forest clearing visually tangible. You can record enchanting time-lapse movies of about 10 seconds in length and with playback frame rates of 25 or 30 fps. The scene modes automatically determine the shooting interval that is most appropriate for your subject.

Shake-free photos and film sequences, even with extreme telephoto shots from the hand or in poor lighting conditions. The optical Image Stabilizer (VR) with Nikon's Dual Detect Technology allows shots to be taken with up to five exposure levels longer. VR Active mode provides a more stable viewfinder and monitor image - ideal when you're on the move.

The side zoom switch allows you to extend the lens with your thumb. A simple press of the snap-back zoom button immediately pulls the lens back to a wider angle of view - ideal for finding subjects that have moved out of the field of view.

The standard shoe makes it easier to use Nikon accessories such as flash units. Do you already know the Nikon dot sight DF-M1? The foldable attachment viewfinder enables you to track even fast flying birds and keep them in the centre of the picture.

In the Birdwatching program, you can select three different AF points to keep fast moving subjects in focus. The Moon mode optimizes camera settings for clear astronomical images. This makes it possible to take pictures of all phases of the moon.

The App SnapBridge for iOS and Android enables a permanent connection between the COOLPIX P950 and a mobile device. Share pictures. Use the GPS function of your smart device. SnapBridge transfers date and location data to your camera. The SnapBridge app also allows zooming and shutter release from your smart device.

Thanks to its large zoom range, the Coolpix P950 makes it possible to take pictures that would otherwise hardly be possible, or only with much heavier and more expensive equipment. It is obvious that you have to compromise on image quality - the new raw mode at least puts these disadvantages into perspective. Nikon should improve the autofocus tracking in continuous shooting mode.
