UDIMM ECC memory and RDIMM (Registered) server memory cannot be used together. Therefore, when upgrading, you should know which memory is already installed or upgrade completely to RDIMM memory.

Principles of memory configuration:

• The memory slots are organized in groups of 2.
• The different groups of 2 slots do not need to have the same capacities.
• Only the memory slots where the respective CPU is present can be used.

Memory configuration for good system performance:

• Distribute the memory evenly across the memory slots and evenly across the CPUs.
• If more than one CPU is present, the memory should be configured identically (mirrored to the other CPU) per CPU.
