The Dimension-UC series includes buffer modules that use EDLCs (electrical double layer capacitors), commonly referred to as ultracapacitors or supercapacitors, which are integrated within the buffer module. They can bridge power outages or voltage fluctuations and supply the 24V DC bus with power for a certain period, allowing for a safe shutdown of the system. This helps avoid costly downtime, lengthy restarts, and data loss. During the time when the power supply provides sufficient voltage, the buffer module stores energy in the capacitors. In the event of a power supply disturbance, this energy is made available to the DC bus in a controlled manner. The buffer modules are maintenance-free and have a similar lifespan to power supplies. Unlike battery-backed UPS systems, the capacitors do not need to be replaced regularly. With an extensive temperature range of -40°C to +60°C, the device is suitable for many applications. The buffer modules are available in two versions, differing in the size of the integrated capacitors.
