According to the instructions, the backplate supplied is only compatible up to AM3+. For AM4 mounting, the standard bracket from AMD is required. This is what I did with my R5 2600. Btw, if it doesn't have to be a water cooler, you can easily use an air cooler like the Dark Rock 4, which is just as good as this water cooler.
