Only a "Micro USB 3.0 to USB-C cable" is included. This does not work with the iPhone. The other problem I see is that the hard drive needs power. Does it get it from the iPhone? At best it needs an adapter. ("lightning bolt" does not exist as far as I know. Either "Lightning" or "Thunderbolt")

Hi Anna You can already use the HDD on your old MAC, but you will need a different cable: From Usb-A to Usb-C, only a C-C cable is included. But otherwise the HDD is really good and robust.

LaCie products are very often used with Macs. The old USB-A connection has been on the decline for years. Since mid-2016, MacBooks have only had combined USB-C/Thunderbolt ports. (Windows computers, on the other hand, are on average 5-10 years behind in terms of interfaces). Probably for this reason and for cost reasons, LaCie no longer supplies both cables.

It probably does not work: 1.) The power supply from the camera is probably not sufficient for the hard disk. 2.) The camera would have to recognise the hard disk, will probably not be designed for this. Solution: My recommendation: I always take enough SD cards with me on holiday, then I reduce the loss in case an SD card fails. SD cards have become very inexpensive. Plus, in a quiet minute I can sort out / delete the pictures on the camera. Or: If you have a tablet, you can use a micro SD in the camera and pull it out of the tablet if the tablet has a micro SD card reader. Or: LaCie Rugged Boss (1000GB)

Hello Marco. I quickly did a speed test on my MacBook Pro (2017) directly connected with USB-C: Write: 77 MB/s Read: 70 MB/s I would not recommend this HD for video editing. I use an SSD as "intermediate storage" for this. I work on the SSD and when I'm done with the project, I then load the data onto this HD. LG Chris

Should work and if not just format to exFAT. However, the hard drive is relatively slow depending on use. If you want to work with photos or videos, it is not ideal.

Thanks to the USB-A and USB-C cables included, the disc can be connected to MacBook Pro (old and new) and iPad Pro (with USB-C connection?) without any problems. Older iPads and iPhones also need a Lightning to USB (usually USB-A) adapter. But I haven't tried that with this disc. It's possible that it needs a lot of power and therefore doesn't run on the iPhone. You have to test it.
