Short answer: Yes — the monitor can be powered by an external USB‑C power source, and it supports USB‑C passthrough charging so a connected iPad that supplies or requests power can be charged while driving the display (if the iPad and the power source support USB‑C power delivery). [LG product spec shows 2 × USB‑C ports and USB‑C power/display capability] Details and important notes: - The monitor has two USB‑C ports that support DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB‑C power/charging functionality, and it accepts external USB‑C power input to operate the display. - When an external USB‑C PD (Power Delivery) adapter is connected to the monitor’s USB‑C power input, the monitor can passthrough power to the host device (e.g., iPad) over the other USB‑C port, enabling the iPad to charge while the monitor is used as an external display. - Compatibility depends on the iPad model: iPads with a USB‑C port (for example, iPad Pro models from 2018 onward and other USB‑C iPads) can send video over USB‑C and accept charging via USB‑C PD; confirm your specific iPad model supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB‑C PD charging. - Ensure the external power adapter provides sufficient USB‑C PD wattage for both the monitor and the iPad; higher‑watt PD chargers (e.g., 30W–65W) are recommended for reliable passthrough charging and stable operation. The user manual on LG’s support page has detailed power and connection guidance. If you’d like, tell me your exact iPad model and the power adapter wattage you plan to use and I’ll confirm expected behavior and recommended PD wattage.

The "16MR70.ASDWU + view Gram USB-C" display can operate when connected to a laptop via the USB-C port, without the need for a separate power supply, provided the laptop can supply sufficient power. However, if you want to charge your laptop at the same time, you will need a USB-C charger (up to 45W) to power both the display and the laptop.

Hi Andrea, I only use the monitor with the PC, so I can't tell you what it's like with the iPad. Otherwise I'm satisfied so far. I might buy a touchscreen for my next purchase...LG WD

Is it compatible with iPad Pro?

The LG 16MR70.ASDWU + view LG Gram USB-C monitor is compatible with devices that support USB-C connection with DisplayPort Alternate Mode (DP Alt Mode) functionality. However, specific compatibility with the iPad Pro depends on the specifications of the iPad Pro model. - Newer iPad Pros (from the 2018 model year onwards) support USB-C connection and can transmit the video signal via USB-C, so they may be compatible. - However, it is important to check the specifications of your iPad Pro to ensure it supports the resolution and functionality of the monitor. In general, if your iPad Pro has a USB-C port and supports video transmission, it should work with this monitor. But for definitive confirmation, you should consult the device specifications and manufacturer's guides.

Good morning I just bought the LG16MR70 last week and also own an MS Surface Pro 8. The functionality is there. Plug and play. The resolution can be adjusted as normal in the display settings. I'm very satisfied so far and the monitor's resolution, black levels etc. are impressive. Greetings

I set it up according to the instructions and it works for me without any problems. It is a bit wobbly, but strong enough to hold the monitor. I only use it in landscape format.
