The hard drive with SATA III connection, 2.5-inch design and 5400 rpm is basically compatible with the PS3 Fat, as it also supports 2.5-inch SATA hard drives. There is no official indication that the ST1000LM048 model is explicitly incompatible. However, there is no official confirmation from Sony or Seagate regarding compatibility with the PS3 Fat - the information is based on the technical specifications and current experience.

Can I fit the 1 or 2 TB in my PS3 Slim?

In terms of physical size, for sure. According to various forums, the PS3 stops at 1TB, but I can't confirm that. With my PS4, things look different again. When converting, just make sure to first make a backup on an external HDD if you don't want to reinstall and adjust everything. (Google and YouTube help here). However, if finances allow it, I would recommend an SSD (e.g. Samsung 860 Pro).

I can't answer that question. I use the hard drive in a removable hard drive frame in my "no name" PC (assembled by myself) as a backup HDD. I regularly store my operating system (on SSD) on it as a Windows backup including a system image. This works for me without any problems

Hello and good day! I can't help you with the return, it's up to the seller. But if you buy a suitable USB 3 housing, you can connect the hard drive to the PS4 as an external drive without any problems. I've had it running for over three years without any problems. LG

This one is about 14mm and even though in my Toshiba quosimo the hdd spacing is quite thick it didn't fit so I thought I can install it instead of the optical drive but I didn't manage to find the trey which is thick enough..

Fits in without any problems, as the rear mounting frame (made of plastic) is designed for mounting any 2.5" disks. I used to have a similar HDD in it. In the meantime, however, I have changed to a 2.5" SSD.
