The holder in the kit can accommodate an M.2 SSD of sizes 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280. This SSD is used for direct recording of 4K ProRes videos on the smartphone. The connection to the SSD is made via the M.2 port in the holder itself and not via the USB hub or cable supplied. The USB hub, however, is used for other connections such as charging the smartphone or using a USB microphone.
