The cashback campaign lasts until 31.01.2019. What is the situation in the current case where it is not yet certain that the ordered lenses will be available by the said date? Does the order date or the purchase date count for cashback campaigns? I ask because I ordered the lens on a pick-up and pay-as-you-pick-up basis.

The promotion counts from the date of order and you have until 28.02.2019 to submit the cashback application to Sony. This can be done under this link: https://www.sony.ch/cashback

Does this lens need its own AF or that of the camera?

Your question is not entirely clear but I'll give it a try: The lens has its own AF motors, of course. As far as I know, camera bodies with built-in motors for autofocus have not existed for a long time. The lens (currently) only works properly on Sony cameras with E-mount, i.e. A7 series, A5/6xxx series, partly on older NEX models.
