Are the U7 pro currently being delivered the new version, i.e. the one without the fan? To find out, all you need to do is look to see if there's a small ventilation slot on or under the network port.

Most POE injectors "only" have Gigabit connections (some of the very cheap ones only have 10/100 Mbps). If you need 2.5 Gbit, then you have to use a special one, such as this one: TP-Link TL-POE260S (PoE injector) Unfortunately, you can't filter by supported network speed on digitec, but the manufacturer's specifications often leave a lot to be desired in terms of speed. :P

I intend to screw the appliance to the wall. However, this appliance is marketed as being designed to be screwed to the ceiling (?). Would there be any disadvantages if it were mounted on the wall? Alternatively, a wall version has recently become available (https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/ubiquiti-u7-pro-wall-4324-mbits-access-point-46320107), but costs a little more. Is it just the form factor that is different, or are there actual technical differences?

I also have these APs on the wall and have already equipped an entire school in this way, it works. Of course, the dispersion behaviour would be better on the ceiling because the APs don't radiate like a "hemisphere" but more like a "donut". This means that the output is slightly lower directly in front of them, but in my opinion this doesn't play a major role.

I think I know that it might not fit on the U7-Pro. However, it is very difficult to tell from the pictures. Simply ordering and checking is actually the easiest solution. As I have already built up the U7-Pro several times, I cannot say with certainty whether the diameter of the holder with the catches will fit on the new device.

I would like to connect this AP directly to the 2.5Ghz (WAN port if that works at all) of my future Dream Machine PRO Max. If the coverage is not sufficient, can I simply extend the signal of this AP via MESH and do I buy a second one or do I have to buy a special MESH AP? Unfortunately, I have no way of operating additional APs in my home via network cable and POE, so it has to be over the air.

I'm also a newcomer to Ubiquiti land (proud owner of a UDM SE and a U7 Pro since this week). First of all: the U7-Pro has no power supply. This means it requires power via PoE. When I look at the tech specs of the Dream Machine Pro Max here, https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/pro/category/all-unifi-cloud-gateways/products/udm-pro-max, neither the 2.5Gbps port 9 nor any other port has PoE. While the Dream Machine Special Edition has two GbE PoE ports, the Dream Machine Pro Max doesn't seem to have a single PoE port on board. However, the 2.5Gbit WAN port can be converted into a LAN port (theoretically, not tested but researched online). To do this, you have to map one of the eight LAN ports on the left side to port 9 (the 2.5Gbit WAN port) in the UniFi OS settings. However, I have not seen confirmation anywhere that the U7 Pro is connected to port 9 and successfully acts as an AP for the local network. However, port 9 does not have PoE either. So you would also have to buy a PoE+ injector to supply the U7 Pro with power (pay attention to the wattage). The solution I have opted for here is to buy a multi-gig switch with a few PoE+ ports. Depending on the model, you can then connect it directly to one of the SFP+ ports of the Dream Machine or to port 9 or one of ports 1-8 (the speed then changes, of course, depending on which port is selected). I get this one myself: Ubiquiti Enterprise 8 PoE (10 ports) and a "Direct Attach" cable. This gives the internal network a full 10Gbit from the second SFP+ port on the Dream Machine. (the internet connection is connected to the first one). I then simply connect the U7 Pro to one of the switch's 2.5Gbit PoE+ ports. Last but not least... apparently the answer to your mesh question is: YES. All Unifi access points are mesh-capable. However, if you want to expand your WLAN and don't have the option of pulling additional network cables, you can't use a second U7 Pro (it needs PoE+ and doesn't have a power supply). So you would have to rely on other APs without PoE. But at least that should work well.

It is also still in stock in our warehouse at the moment. The current price difference between the manufacturer and us, considering that it still has to be delivered to Switzerland, is very marginal. But everyone has to decide for themselves. :-)

I have a U6LR, which has IP54 protection. Does the U7-Pro also have protection? I can only find the note "indor". I need this on the roof terrace, without direct protection.
