Category 8, the standard for next-generation twisted pair cabling, enables up to four times faster transmission of data on the same cabling type and supports 25GBase-T and 40GBase-T applications for short distances (up to 30 meters) for switch-to-server connections, mainly in top-of-rack or end-of-row topologies. The Category 8 cables are halogen-free and flame retardant (LSOH), and are GHMT certified for quality and performance. These twisted pair installation cables are designed for structured building cabling and are suitable for use in 40 Gigabit Ethernet networks, particularly in data centers. They feature double shielded (PiMF) construction, with a specification of Cat.8.1, suitable for 10 to 40 GBit/s. The impedance is 100 Ohm, with a construction of 8 cores made of solid copper wire, pairwise shielding in aluminum-laminated foil, and overall shielding in tinned copper braiding.
