It meets the +RW Alliance specifications (Double Layer) and DVD Forum specifications (Dual Layer). The Double/Dual Layer recording layer is made possible by the development of a new substrate layer that sits between the recording layers, allowing both sides to be written to with a laser. When the first layer is full, recording continues on the second layer.

DVD+R is a writable disk with a storage capacity of 4.7 GB. It meets the +RW Alliance specifications.
