According to the manual (and also in the description here), the mainboard should support a maximum of 128GB RAM. However, the manual also states that only 2, 4, 8 and 16GB modules can be used. With four slots, that means only 64GB. Is this an error in the manual or are only 64GB actually possible?

This might be an error in the manuals that only max 16GB modules are supported.

In the QVL list there are 32GB modules https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub...

Basically, you will probably be able to run 128GB on it, but there is no certified RAM (QVL) in these sizes. So it will work but is not officially supported.

If you really need that much RAM, you should go for Threadripper or similar.
