Can I insert a SIM card into this AP and generate WLAN or do I still need a router?
It is "only" an access point. It needs a router.

No SIM card slot is definitely not installed, but a pure but very good AP, the already upscale class.
This means that coverage throughout the house with three APs is very feasible. I've already installed them myself and everything is great.
Even the software allows top maintenance.
