Can I somehow connect this screen to my Surface Pro 6 (without USB C port?)? Or would I have to use the Asus MB168B?

The screen is only for USB Type-C. Since both signals and power are coupled together. (Display Port+Power) can hardly be combined with adapter and plug (I tried). Only USB-C to USB-C cables that support display output will work.

According to description MB168B: Scope of delivery - USB 3.0 cable, Quick Installation Guide, Support CD, 1 x Case.
The 169c+ is only for USB-C, 168B works with UBS-C and USB 3.0.
