Can I use the transmitter with the new UPC TV Box? Instead of the HDMI cable between the UPC Box and my Smart TV set.

Should work like this, yes.
So far I have only had problems when I connected a hdmi splitter or to an amplifier. Then it interrupts at the beginning but directly from the source I haven't had a problem yet.
