Can the WD Red Pro discs be operated with the synology DS224+? Only the WD Red Plus are available in the sets. if so, would it make sense to increase the RAM of the DS 224+ from 2 to 4Gb? would this have an effect? Thanks for any helpful answer !

Helpful answer
Of course you can use the WD Red Pro in the DS224+. Only the Plus models have been tested and included in the compatibility list by Synology, but the Pro models work perfectly. A RAM expansion can never hurt, whether it makes sense depends on which services are running on the NAS and what the intended use is.

I can confirm that Markus is right

About ram. You need to check the ram usage in synology in the small window on the right.

If you exceed 50% without doing anything. Yes, this is recommended.

Hello, I myself have a Synology NAS "DSM-218 Play" with 2 HDD bays. At the beginning I had 2 x HDD WD 2TB.
I have not changed the original RAM size in the NAS.
But with all the photos, videos, music and office data, the space on the HDD quickly became insufficient.
= Today I have 2 x HDD WD Red, 8 TB in the two bays in the NAS and it works perfectly.

Have fun!
