Can the XMG3927 do mesh or not - it's advertised with mesh but I can't find anything in the setup and the latest firmware seems to be from 2019 ?

I have updated my firmware come from Swisscom (Switzerland) to the factory one this weekend because I needed to use mPro Mesh solutions from Zyxel.

Base firmware branded : V5.13(ABQO.0)D0.
Updated firmware : V5.17(ABMT.6)C0

Download here :
https://www.zyxel.com/euosearch...

Please watch this video to help you : https://youtu.be/vHDUjFk9u1...

STEP 1 : Use Terminal (MacOs) or PuTTY (Windows)
ssh (ip router) -l (username)

My exemple with Terminal : ssh 192.168.1.1 -l admin

STEP 2 : Follow these commands when connected

zycli
zycli modelcheck
zycli modelcheck show (Result : "ret:0")
zycli modelcheck off
zycli modelcheck show (Result : "ret:-17")

zycli fwidcheck show (Result : "ret:0")
zycli fwidcheck off
zycli fwidcheck show (Result : "ret:-17")

exit

STEP 3 : Update your firmware with the web interface

Does anyone already have a mesh in operation with the XMG 3927 and possibly a Mulit Mini or WRE6505. I'm thinking of buying the latter because it's so handy and small for the socket?

Hello, in the Wifi main menu there is a sub-item Mesh. As far as I know, mesh is largely manufacturer-dependent, i.e. you cannot mix routers / extenders from different manufacturers. This is also suggested by the ConfigUi in the router. It says:

'Zyxel MESH facilitates your WiFi client devices to roam between Gateway and AP/Extender seamlessly, and provide you a whole home coverage solution'.

I would assume that you can only build a Wifi Mesh with Zyxel devices. There is something called EasyMesh, which is also supposed to work across manufacturers, it's also mentioned in passing on the Zyxel product page, but I wouldn't bet on it. In the meantime, I no longer use the Wifi part of the router, as the router is now in the technical room and the Wifi is too strongly attenuated there.
