Ciao, just installed everything today. No, you don't need it. I can highly recommend the system - great sound. Easy to handle

No, a remote control is supplied but the mini screen on the bar is not very practical (the settings are not displayed on the TV).

The Samsung application makes it easier to view the settings, but it's not compulsory.
