No, not at all. Simply open an account on synology.com first, the rest is done automatically during the BeeStation installation, including remote access via the two apps BeeFiles and Bee Photos (no need to set any ports or other external access). Really plug & play, rarely experienced so effortlessly. I am impressed with the product, great price/performance. Caution: HDD 1 x 4 TB, no "fried egg" possible! I recommend installing 2FA (Secure SignIn app).
