Helpful answer

The supply voltage of the LED is 5V. If you plug the fans directly into an Asus board, you will kill the LEDs in the fans. Asus mainboards have 12V but if you disconnect the right line it is 5v and you can control them via Aura. But you can also connect the fans directly to the Kraken and also the LED line and control all speeds and LED colours via the NZXT controller. The fan controller has the advantage, however. You can control everything individually and give each fan its own name.

No, you don't need it, because they can be connected directly to the Kraken.
