Does it work with only one of the 2x8pin power supply connected? If not, please provide part no. for cable 1x8 -> 2x8, thanks in advance. System: - Ryzen 5 3600 - RTX 2070S - 500W power supply (unfortunately only 1x8pin connector available)
Only connected one cable, works perfectly.
According to the forum (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php), the mainboard works with one 8-pin connector, the second is used for overclocking. I have connected both, so I cannot verify the statement.
I have a Ryzen 7 5800x (no OC) and it works without problems with only CPU_PWR1. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the manual. Maybe it needs the 2nd port for aggressive overclocking, or it was meant as a reserve in case the new Ryzen generation would have sucked more power.
Hello Mathiasvoe
Yes!
I am running the board with a non-overclocked Ryzen 9 3900X and have only CPU_PWR1 (closer to the I/O ports) connected. Works without problems even under heavy continuous load (CPU mining). (With Corsair HX850i power supply)
