Does the PoE of this switch work both ways? I want to be able to use the switch without a power adapter if possible. If this is not the one doing that, what other options could you recommend? I need 3-4 ports, 8 ports max.

No, it does not work in both ways. It is a PoE-PD where PD means powered device (see foto, text in the yellow box below port 1). The GS108T can work without a power supply, if the power is provided over the Ethernet cable to port 1. But the switch does not deliver power to other devices through port 2 to 8.
