does this cpu fit on the Asus Z170 ProGaming motherboard? and does everything work? i read somewhere that it needs the 370 series.... I only know that my Z170 has the matching socket.

No. You need a mainboard with a 300 series chipset. The 8th and 9th generation Intel processors are not compatible with a 100 or 200 series chipset.
