Does this part replace the old One Connect hub of a UE55HU8580 or does this have to be connected additionally?

Yes, unfortunately it is not a replacement, but as already written, this kit must be additionally connected to the box in series. If the first box goes out, nothing works anymore. I cannot recommend it. Not a good solution for an upgrade.
