Question about WD Elements Portable
created this account just to prevent people from buying external hard drives from this brand. bought 2 different ones from wd elements. both no longer work, lost all my data on them. after i enter the password for my hard drive, an error message comes up and i have to enter the password again. after the 2nd try, the hard drive disappears. tried to find it with the hard drive utility, but it shows as ''not activated''. can't repair it either. an error message appears. no longer have access to all the content.
I buy one of these hard drives every year for my video and photo projects and have never had a problem with it. Since 2015, so already 7 hard drives and the one from 2015 works perfectly.
A tip on the side: you should always save important data in 2 independent places so that you don't have this problem.
I also use 2 of these external storage devices as data backups and have never experienced any problems. When I had problems with a piece of hardware, I contacted the manufacturer directly. I was always surprised at how well they took care of the matter.
