Question about ASUS Rog Strix X570-E Gaming

Hello all. I have replaced my old mainboard with this new one. According to the instructions, it needs at least 1x8P to run. However, only 2 cables with 4P each come out of my power supply unit for the CPU. Can I simply connect them together with an adapter and then plug them in? If it matters, my CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900x.

You don't need an adapter, you can plug the two 4-pin cables side by side into the 8-pin connector.
