Hello all, I would like to connect the device to a PC with an e-Sata port and run it with FreeNas as a backup. Does anyone have any experience with this? And can I add the hard disks bit by bit? I don't want to buy them all at once. Maybe the raid can be controlled via the FreeNas software. Thank you for the help.

Yes, that should not be a problem, normally RAID controllers support the possibility to add drives to the array later. It just takes a while. Here you can find the manual for this product:
