Question about Netgear RAX200 Nighthawk

Hello all. Unfortunately I only found out after the fact, but the router(s) from Netgear have an integrated anti-virus/firewall from Bitdefender, the so-called Netgear Armour. Like everything else today, this is free for a few days and then costs a steep 100Fr. a year. An absolute bloody cheek!!!! I'm pissed off, because other suppliers like Fritz or Asus don't have chargeable protection, where it's included with the router costs. Now the joke is, I have had Bitdefender Internet Security on my PC/laptop/mobile for a long time. My question now; Do I need the Netgear Armour on the router? You can also deactivate it, then you have no protection directly on the router. What do you think? Maybe there is a computer scientist here who is familiar with cyber security. Many thanks in advance. Kind regards

I have been using this device for over a year and have never heard of Netgear Armour, nor have I ever had to pay anything for it. Maybe it didn't come with it before. In any case, it is not needed for the function of the router.

Hello, if you have a lot of devices connected to your network such as fridge lights etc... on which a WAF cannot be installed locally, a firewall at network level is a very good layer of security but above all of prevention.

100 chf VS a hack or pirating of your security cameras. It's up to you to decide where your digital conscience lies.

Personally, I've tested it

Hello
I have had it for about 1 year now. The Netgear Armor option is on it, but I never activated it.
I was asked if I wanted to activate it.
I don't need it, my computers are sufficiently protected elsewhere.
It's best to cancel again if you don't need this option.
Maybe you can discuss a refund with Netgear.
Good luck and greetings
Roger
