Hello tttwister, perception is of course different. When printing PLA, you should open the door and remove the lid. Otherwise the temperature will be too high and the print image will be negatively affected. Then it is quite loud and I would definitely not want to work on the side.
ABS, PTEG etc. require higher temperatures, so close the door and put the lid on. Then it's not quiet, but you could work next to it.
Difficult to give a generalised answer.
