Hello everyone I would like to stream films from the Beestation with my Formuler media player and listen to music with Sonos via the app from my music library that I store on the Beestation. Does anyone have any experience with this in terms of the protocols?

Helpful answer

For streaming films and playing music from the Synology BeeStation here are some important points to note:

### Movie streaming
- Synology BeeStation does not support DLNA or UPnP protocols by default, which would be necessary for streaming movies to DLNA/UPnP-compatible devices such as Formuler media player.
- However, there is the option to install Video Station, a Synology software that supports video streaming, but this requires specific configurations and may be limited on the BeeStation as DLNA/UPnP is not enabled by default.

### Music streaming with Sonos
- To play music via the Sonos app, the music library on the BeeStation must be made accessible via SMB shares. However, SMB sharing is not enabled by default on the BeeStation and must be set up manually.
- It is possible to install the Synology Media Server app and configure the SSDP advertising intervals to enable DLNA access, but this may also be limited on the BeeStation as DLNA is not supported by default.

To summarise: There are some limitations and configuration requirements to use these functions with Synology BeeStation. It may be necessary to change specific settings and install additional software to achieve the desired functions.
