Hello I have today my i7 6700 probably not quite right übertatet and now I have sound problems it falters unmanageable and I was wondering now whether I should buy a new motherboard or not or whether I need a new cpu have thought of nen i7 8700K or a i5 8700 can you help me? thank you.
Check the manual to see if you can find the BIOS reset. Usually you can press a button or set a jumper.
So first up are the 6000 models of Intel SkyLake processors. These were designed for chipset Z170 or lower.
Secondly, the 370 chipset only works with CoffeLake and is not backwards compatible.
The reason for this is that the memory controller is controlled differently and therefore changes in the BIOS (Custom BIOS) would be necessary to make the CPU work. That's why I can't imagine that your system will run at all.
Regarding your question about the i7 8700k or i5 8600k. I myself have an i5 8600k paired with a GTX 1080 ti and have to say the processor complements the card really well! For work like video editing, an i7 8700k is worth it, otherwise I would go for the i5 8600k!
