A portable SSD is better suited as an external storage medium than an internal SSD with an adapter. Especially with PCIe SSDs, good cooling must be ensured to maintain performance and a long service life - many enclosures do not offer this.
Therefore, we recommend our Samsung Portable SSD T7 as an external storage expansion, which is available with 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB storage capacity. Please also have a look at the Samsung Portable T7 Touch or the Samsung Portable SSD X5.

I don't know of any external enclosure that allows the SSD to rotate by means of a motor like a hard drive. But if you just want an external SSD, yes, there are various enclosures for that ;-)
