Actually both. It records continuously, but deletes again unless a command to save or a shock (impact while driving or movement while stationary (parking monitoring)) occurs. However, this can be adjusted in the settings.

The dashcam records continuously. However, the clips are overwritten again if there is no more storage space on the SD card. Audio recording can be deactivated in the app. When parking mode is activated, recording starts when there is movement/noise. I personally have been using the camera for over two years, but would go for another brand or a more expensive product as I am not convinced by the parking mode.

By default, the device records as soon as it receives power via the USB cable supplied and switches off again when the power is no longer available. I find this very practical, you don't have to worry about anything - recording starts as soon as you set off.
