...what are the concrete differences between the types Synology DS220j and Synology DS220+, the comparison function unfortunately does not help. the price difference is significant, but I could not find any concrete differences (apart from the appearance).
Can someone tell me briefly and specifically what the differences are?

PS: I would like to set up a NAS at home to store and share private data, media and photos. It would also be desirable if it could be accessed from a smartphone (synch. of photos).

The biggest difference between the two models is:
- the CPU
- Ram (0.5GB vs 2GB)
- RAM upgrade possible or not

Rather insignificantly, to install the hard disks, the case of the 220j must be unscrewed. With the 220+, the whole thing can be done without screws.

Due to the better CPU of the DS220+, it offers even more software options than the 220j (e.g. VMs). However, the j can also meet your PS requirements without any problems.
