I have the TL-WN881ND and according to the product description, the card also supports IEEE.802.11n, but unfortunately I can only find IEEE 802.11b and IEEE802.11b/g under TP-Link Wireless N PCI Express Adapter Settings under Wireless Mode. Do I have to activate IEEE.802.11n somehow :/

It should be the "Auto" setting directly.
Check if you have the latest software and drivers.
