How far away from the wall is the plate to which the speakers are attached? The 3cm specified refers to the distance between the wall and the ball joint.

If I understand the question correctly, then the plate is flush with the wall. On the ball joint side, a thickness of at least 5mm to 25mm (centre axis of ball head) is to be expected due to the curved shape.
