How many max fans can I connect to this motherboard? Is 9 lian li of 120mm too many?

I don't understand the question. You can connect the fans in series. You only need one connection.
There are a total of 3 connections for fans, which are 3pin or 4pin is shown in the manual on the homepage via downloads.
