how much speed do you have with the macbook pro? and can you still touch the adapter during operation?

Helpful answer

The speed is relatively close to the maximum of 10 gbit/s. For me, the connection to the Internet, the server or the web browser is usually the limiting factor. Speedtest.net shows between 5-8 gbit/s. The device does get warm, but not excessively so. I would say under 35 degrees. But perhaps there are now more economical or cheaper alternatives

macbook pro m1 I am at 8.2gbit with larger files.

the adapter gets quite warm. just before hot. but i wouldn't hold it in my hand for longer.

It’s fast enough for everything else around (websites, cloud storage, NAS, most other computers) to be slower.

You can touch it though my unit is under table, I don’t have to.

Yes, you can still touch the adapter. I don't know MacPro

Agree with brookman (the max speed at 10gbit is only 8gbit either way because of the tcp overhead) and the conversion from Gbits to MB/s so the part manages the full 10 Gbits
