I am a bit overwhelmed with the fan configuration. The plan is that, in addition to the three fans already installed, I will also install three ML 120 Pro Corsair fans at the back & top (top for the AOI radiator). I plan to connect these via the iCUE Commander Core Controller supplied there. I have already read several times that I cannot also connect the Phanteks fans there. But is it still possible to connect them to the mainboard as normal (including the RGB lighting)? And is such a setup recommended in terms of compatibility and configuration, or does it make more sense to replace the installed fans with Corsair fans as well?

All Corsair or all via the motherboard. Corsair is its own Eco System with its own connectors, controlled via USB.
