Question about MikroTik CRS305-1G-4S+IN

I am facing a minor problem: The 305 does not work for me when I put SFP modules in it. I have the following setup: Internetbox 3(Swisscom) connected via Cat8.1 cable to the CRS 305 connected to the RJ45 plug but also works with the RJ45 module. 2x Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G modules in it, two OM3 cables that go to 1x Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G on each of two devices, which in turn are each connected to an Asus XG-C100F network card. My problem is that both devices do not get an IP. The switch recognises the inserted SFP modules BUT it does not give a link although both PCs are switched on. No green lights are shown on the switch either. The interesting thing is that with the RJ45 10G module and a long 8.1 cable it works without problems but with the SFP modules nothing works. The cards themselves have a flashing light which actually means that they accept the module according to the instructions.

Besides possible incompatibilities of the modules, one has to reduce the link speed.

On the configuration website in the "Link" tab, remove the "Auto Negotiation" check mark and reduce the "Speed" to 1G. After saving with "Apply All" it might work ;-)

In my case it was the 1Gbit Ubiquiti modules... The 10Gbit I had to order from abroad because Switzerland didn't have any worked. Sorry for the late answer.

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that manufacturers' SFP / SFP+ modules will work in a device. In their case, it is aggravated by the fact that the "Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G" is an SFP module and not an SFP+ module. The main difference is the speed of the interface.

The detection of the modules runs via the I2C interface of the interface, this is independent of the actual data transmission.

I suspect that the switch for the "Ubiquiti UF-MM-1G" would have to reduce the speed of the interface, but does not do so (because it deliberately does not want to or because it simply does not know that this module is SFP).

Specifically, I have operated "S+RJ10 " (RJ45, 10G, SFP+) and "2S-RJ01" (RJ45, 1G, SFP) on the "CRS305-1G-4S+IN". This means that, in principle, the "CRS305-1G-4S+IN" can also support SFP modules.

If I operate the "S+RJ10 " (RJ45, 10G, SFP+) / "2S-RJ01" (RJ45, 1G, SFP) in the Ubiquiti "UniFi XG 6PoE", the SFP+ module from Mikrotik works, the SFP module does not work.

Long story short, it may well be that your SFP module is not compatible with the switch.

Of course, the same problem can also be on the network card side, but I don't have any experience with that.
