No, the colleagues have described it very well, you need a basic device, i.e. a router.
This is a WLAN repeater and not an access point. The repeater can be configured via the Ethernet connection. You need either a router that creates a new WLAN via a powerline because your modem is in the basement or an access point with WLAN. Devolo and Zyxel offer simple solutions via the power grid.
Hi, as far as I know, the thing serves as an AMPLIFIER for an existing WLAN.
And it does this very well. Since then, I have good coverage in every corner of the house.
