Question about ASUS Thunderbolt EX 4
I don’t quite get it if the DisplayPorts are inputs or outputs. And for what? Do I connect the DisplayPort from my GPU to it so I have a video signal on the TB side or am I missing something? And if I install it in my system and connect a laptop to it, do I get access to all my data from both devices? Like a giant overweight external hard disk?

It is exactly as you say: The DisplayPort connections are inputs so that you have your "normal" GPU outputs available on the Thunderbolt/USB-C signal.
Regarding access to the data from both devices: It should be possible to use Thunderbolt as a network and thus be able to access shared hard drives from respective other computers. However, both devices must support this.
