Synology MR2200ac

Question about Synology MR2200ac

I have a DS218 from Synology and the fibre box from Salt, after switching from iWay. I used to be able to open the ports on their router without any problems, but I can't do that anymore with Salt. Can I replace the Salt router with the MR2200? Or with another Synology product? Or do I need a fibre adapter to go with it? Thank you!

Port forwarding is a way for hackers to get at the data. This has to be very well thought out. I wouldn't replace the router, but you can, for example, put a mesh router system behind the Salt router and then use it to look after your own network. Fibre optics are useless, because that would only make everything faster.
