Question about Sennheiser BT T100

I now have 2 devices at home. Connected to an LG TV that is over 10 years old. I can't get any sound from the headphones via the digital input. It works via the jack. I have replaced the cables several times. Digital out from the TV to a Polk soundbar works. The TV is also set to PCM. Have I really got 2 defective devices or am I missing something?

I wasn't happy with the sennheiser bluetooth transmitter either. it works much better with the apple tv box and airpods.
