I recently bought an SSD and wanted to install a heat conduction pad (cooling pad) for better cooling. The product pictures show an aluminium cover on the SSD, but my SSD does not have this cover. Is it still possible to stick the thermal pad directly onto the SSD, even without the aluminium cover? Is it even necessary to use a heat sink if the SSD is installed in an external housing?
Directly applying the WLP to the memory is useless, as the heat is to be dissipated. It's the same as with a processor. It also needs a cooler!
Without a baffle plate (usually a ribbed plate) you have no heat dissipation!
This also applies to an external housing ...Heat is generated in the memory and must be dissipated. Does the external housing have no cooling ?
