I wonder if this monitor is compatible with the Samsung S8 and Dex. I read that it is also backwards compatible for USB2.0?

The problem is with the power supply. You would have to use a Y-cable and connect a PowerBank in between. As a driver, you have to download the "DisplayLink" app onto the Samsung mobile phone, then it will work. The Samsung alone does not supply enough power. (I have tried the setup with the MB169B+).

No, that is not possible without further ado. The Dex Station only has one USB-C type output, which is needed to power the device. Theoretically, however, it could be possible, but I'm only guessing here that you can connect the screen via USB hub and USB-C-to-HDMI adapter. However, it is quite far-fetched that this would work.

Dex Station likes HDMI as a connector for screens.
