Important note for musicians who want to use AMD Zen 5: Ryzen 9950/9900 etc., Zen 5, are not DAW friendly or capable at this time. Many musicians report that Ilok cannot be installed, plugins crash and freeze. Opus from East West Sounds Online does not work, and the library cannot be used due to Ilok incompatibility. Other musicians write that many of their plug-ins are not usable, even those without Ilok support. AMD and plugin manufacturers have been aware of the problem since August and there is still no solution. I think the situation is similar to Apple's M1 chip, which initially caused similar problems. Hope AMD, Ilok, DAW and plugin, maybe also Microsoft and motherboard manufacturers find solutions to fix the problem soon. I recently bought a Ryzen 9950x and a suitable motherboard for music production, but am still waiting to assemble the PC. In the worst case, I'll have to exchange the CPU, but I don't want to do that
Many thanks for the important input, to the musicians in the Community.
Good news :)
Most mainboard manufacturers now offer the firmware or BIOS update AGESA 1.2.0.2A or higher. Ilok has also worked on this and provided a new update. According to the international Community, the problem has been solved. As soon as I have time, probably over the coming festive period in December, I'll be putting together my new music PC with the great Ryzen 9950x - I'm already looking forward to it
AMD seems to be able to solve the Ilok problem with the BIOS update, AGESA 1.2.0.2A firmware, which is expected to be released in November.
