In layman's terms, I have an iMac and a son. And I would like to use the former to make simple small models for the latter, like Fimo on the computer (figurines, animals, etc.). I have no knowledge of 3D printing or CAD. What do you recommend? Is this 3D printer suitable for absolute beginners, and what kind of programme is suitable? It can be assumed that father and son have an average frustration tolerance (father's slightly higher). Thank you!

Hi Tacheles, nice idea!

I've had the printer for a few weeks - and I'm a bit disillusioned. Unfortunately, 'just print something nice' is not possible. You have to invest a lot of time in calibration, material properties, flow, printing temperatures and speeds. In short: beautiful print results are definitely possible, but they require a lot of experience and 'try and error'.

I use the cloud version of SketchUp. With it, circles and polygons can be 'drawn in depth' and intersected. You can actually create any geometric shapes with it. Figures à la Warcraft are certainly not feasible with it.

If you buy this printer, please contact me again and I will send you the right videos for the calibration ;-)
